Join Zoë for her first five-day master class here in Australia on the beautiful Sunshine Coast.
This class is aimed at anyone wanting to learn and explore a variety of sugar craft techniques, or perfect skills they might already have.
Skill level: Intermediate – advanced
Class outline: You will leave the class with a variety of skills used to decorate the following
One ‘aged’ stone and wood, 3 tier cake, decorated with sugar flowers.
Mini cakes and cookies decorated using alternative techniques and complimented with little sugar flowers.
Day 1 – Layering and icing one round and one square cake and a cake board. Icing a cake dummy. Tier sizes 4,5 and 7”. Using all-in-one and panel method to ice cakes. Embossing the icing to start the aged appearance.
Day 2 – Dowelling cakes. Decorating techniques including, bas-relief, painting, aged wood and distressed finishes.
Day 3 – Sugar flowers – Poppies, Jasmine and Ranunculas.
Day 4 – Dusting and assembling the flowers and finishing the 3 tier cake. Ice and prepare round mini cakes and cookies for day 5.
Day 5 – Exploring marbling, distressed metallics, Kintsugi and rustic bark techniques, to decorate the mini cakes and cookies. Making small sugar flowers, including mini roses, and additional decorations to finish them off.
Apart from the practical side, there will be plenty of opportunity to discuss the business side, as well as the creative process behind each design and how to turn inspiration into a winning creation.
All materials for the class are included. You will just need to bring something for lunch. There are shops and cafes nearby and Parkview Cakes also sells light lunches and snacks. Classes will run from 9.30am to 5pm with half an hour for lunch.
If you’d like to book a place, a $500 non-refundable deposit is required. The remaining balance is due 2 weeks before the class.

Alternatively, you may prefer to choose somewhere along the Coast if you’re also wanting to take in the beautiful scenery and go for a few strolls along the beach! Coolum is a beautiful place and near the airport. It’s about a 20 minute drive to Nambour. You’d need to hire a car if you prefer to stay by the Coast as the bus connections aren’t great.
